Brokeback Mountain

Mel and I went to see Brokeback Mountain today. It was an interesting movie. I don't think it's one I need to see again, but it was good. I did feel a bit uncomfortable during the gay sex scene, but it was tastefully done. I don't really have much else to say about the movie, so I guess that's it for tonight.

I have read this short story and the story was good...so sad. I have not seen the movie, but want to. I am always so curious why people, men in particular, are uncomfortable with male sex scenes? What made you uncomfortable? I ask this in a totally non-judgemental way.

You know, I am not really sure why.

FWIW, I think it's mainly to do with the simple fact that most men are not interested in gay sex. When we go to movies, there's got to be something in there that we can identify with, whether it be a character, a setting, or whatever.

Also, I think that for men, sexual intimacy is very closely tied to emotional intimacy. Two men engaged in such an intimate physical way implies an emotional closeness that many men can't form with one another.

Like I said, FWIW. I probably have no idea what I'm talking about.
